Whirlpool Appliances Mixed Model Scheduling
Corso Systems developed a mixed model scheduling system for Whirlpool Appliances for their various appliance production lines.
Schedulers used various rules to generate a schedule of various appliance options and brands on the assembly line fed by upstream equipment.
This allowed Whirlpool to optimize production within their equipment and demand constraints using machine learning optimizations.
McDonald’s Energy Monitoring
Corso Systems helped the owner of a number of McDonald's franchises in Southern California better understand the energy usage at his restaurants.
By integrating an Opto 22 groov RIO EMU with his equipment, including HVAC and exterior lighting, and pulling in weather data we were able to greatly reduce energy expenditures by alerting staff to turn offexterior lights and adjust thermostats.
ABTC Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Automation
Corso Systems worked with American Battery Technology Company to speed up their development efforts on their pilot plant SCADA system using the Ignition SCADA platform from Inductive Automation.
Nuclear Reactor Shell Heat Treat Process Controls
Corso Systems worked with Premier Furnace Specialists to automate control and data collection for a nuclear reactor heat treatment furnace.
This included complex recipe and batch management to ensure specific ramp rates for heating and cooling cycles were maintained, alarming and alarm notifications sent to operators, and a complex thermocouple management system for multiple heating zones.
Opto 22 groov RIO & Ignition HVAC Management
Corso Systems worked alongside the customer to quickly design, deploy, and commission an affective HVAC management system with Opto 22 groov RIO hardware to ensure an air compressor room stayed cool enough to keep production running without interruption in any season.
Green Steel Manufacturing MES & SCADA System
Corso Systems worked with the leading USA-based company driving MOE steel production. We helped develop a SCADA system to control, monitor, and their operate MOE processes—from a bench-top scale proof of concept cell to a scalable production cell capable of meeting any size demand.
Semiconductor Ignition SCADA and MongoDB Integration
Corso Systems integrated an industry-leading semiconductor’s MongoDB database solution with their SCADA platform, Ignition by creating a connection to the instance and building out the scripting engine to handle the data interaction. The customer now has access to all of their data with no information silos across their production lines.
Ignition, CNC, and Fanuc Integration
Corso Systems helped update a process to an automated CNC cell with a Fanuc robotic arm tending three CNC machines. This dramatically increased overall throughput while greatly reducing operator intervention. With data collected by Ignition, process engineers continued to increase throughput after installation.
Aerospace Automated Furnace Manipulator
Corso Systems integrated the controls operator interface and safety systems for a jet engine parts manufacturer’s automated furnace manipulator. By partnering with the furnace manufacturing company, Corso was able to bring up to date automation and safety features to this aerospace manufacturer’s facility—all while reducing cycle time and downtime.
Thermastor Firmware Management With Ignition
Corso Systems improved Thermastor’s firmware flashing process, saving them tens of thousands in maintenance work. By replicating the functionality of their old VB.NET application and moving the process to Ignition, we were able to add additional functionality including track and trace.
True Temper Sports Scheduling and OEE
With Ignition and the Sepasoft OEE and Scheduling Module, Corso Systems helped True Temper Sports greatly reduce their downtime and production slowdowns. Identifying the downtime reasons as a need for additional routine maintenance and operator training resolved the issues and led to further increases in overall productivity.
Cannabis Gummy Recipe Management
Corso Systems implemented Ignition with the Sepasoft Recipe Module to help a company prevent operator mistakes which had been causing scrapped batches and hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue.
Tanis Gummy Candy Machine OEE
Corso Systems helped increase production by 14% with no additional equipment or personnel changes by implementing OEE on a Tanis Gummy Candy Machine line.
Aveva Edge/Indusoft to Ignition Conversion
Corso Systems converted multiple Magnaflux machines running Aveva Edge / Indusoft to Ignition on OnLogic Panel PCs with touchscreens, and Allen Bradley Micrologix 800 series PLCs. During the conversion, we simplified the project with UDTs and strategic scripting improvements. The customer now has a fully integrated set of quality control test equipment.
Blommer Chocolate Enterprise Integration
Corso Systems integrated all of Blommer Chocolate’s manufacturing systems into a single Ignition application—thus facilitating Blommer Chocolate's digital transformation. Blommer how has a fully integrated information flow since we upgraded their process to implement modern PLCs and HMI clients across the plant. Customer service can now manage orders in real-time.
Champion Pet Foods MES and OEE Implementation
Corso Systems worked with Champion Pet Foods to implement an OEE and MES System for their Alberta Canada facility. The system included recipe management, downtime tracking, production scheduling, and OEE dashboards. In addition scrap/waste counts were updated from Champion's ERP System after QA/QC samples were taken and analyzed, providing detailed view of their OEE.
AGV Scheduling and Management
Corso Systems implemented an operations management system for AGVs at a pharmaceutical company. The system was designed to schedule AGV pick and place operations for raw materials on various production lines. This included integration with the ASRS system, a full digital twin simulation integration, and extensive testing and data validation.
OSIPI to Canary Labs Historian Conversion for 1.8 Million Tag SCADA System
Corso Systems converted an OSIPI Process Historian containing 1.8 million tags to a Canary Labs Historian. The conversion lowered the cost of ownership for the data by implementing significant reductions in storage space, bandwidth, and overall throughput.
Custom Mobile App with Ignition and MQTT Sparkplug B Backend
Corso Systems created a custom native mobile app to combine with Ignition SCADA, MQTT, and Opto22 groov EPIC PLCs. This enabled mobile notifications beyond the functionality of Ignition's own mobile app. This technology stack enabled rapid prototyping and deployment to meet the customer's strict deadline.
Blommer Chocolate Drops Line Automation
Corso Systems and Blommer Chocolate teamed up for a third project: an entirely new production line. We were able to use all of the PLC and SCADA templates from the prior projects with Blommer to speed up development and deployment time. The project used Ignition, Siemens S7-1500 PLCs and all the previous automation upgrades.
