Ignition Explained: Vision Module

Welcome to Ignition Explained. We're reviewing the modules in Inductive Automation Ignition one by one, discussing what you get with each of them, and how Corso Systems uses them to build a project. There always seem to be questions about what each module does and doesn't do. So, we're talking about each module in Ignition, and trying to have some fun along the way. First up, we're talking about the Ignition Vision Module.

Ignition Vision Module

Generally, you can think of the Vision module as the backbone of any Ignition system. Vision gives you clients. Those clients are your HMI (Human Machine Interface) and provide the portal into all of your SCADA and MES functionality—as well anything else you build in Ignition. This is also typically where you'll get into your Designer. The Ignition Designer allows you to build everything in Ignition.

Ignition Modules in General

Modules are only one part of Ignition. Inductive Automation’s Ignition is amazing because it allows you to start small, then add on and build from there. Or, you can start big and keep growing. That's why we at Corso Systems love unlimited licensing. After Vision, read our post about the SQL Bridge Module.
